10 game stories that are completely off the beaten track

Sometimes the plot takes new directions and today we're going to list some of our favorites (and not so favorites) in no particular order. These are the games that slap us in the face and forge an unexpected path. To really make this list, a game can't just have an unexpected ending - it has to be an important part of the game. Whether it's the second half or the final level, if a game takes a turn for the worse. the odd one, it belongs to this list.

    “I need scissors! 61! " [[]

If we're talking about plots that completely lose control, then Metal Gear Solid 2 is the poster boy. Very few games have the audacity to go so far beyond our expectations, offering something that is all about metatextual madness. It's a game that has already pissed everyone off by secretly introducing a new protagonist to replace Solid Snake - you have to give it to Hideo Kojima, he wasn't just trying to please fans with this one.

Towards the end of the game, you find out that a mysterious conspiracy led by a group known as "The Patriots" has built a giant weapon called Arsenal Gear. You also learn that the entire Big Shell incident was designed as a training program to generate a new Solid Snake - and Colonel Campbell you spoke to is an AI program. The one who begins to pip wildly, spouting out strange non-sequiters. It's a shocking experience and then there's Arsenal Gear itself.

Once our new hero Raiden infiltrates Arsenal Gear with Solid Snake, things only get weirder. The interior of Arsenal Gear is named after body parts - Solid Snake has endless ammo due to his bandana, and the weird interiors look more like a VR simulation than a real place. Is there something real anymore? This is what makes the end of such a disorienting experience.

    Flying Kung-Fu fights [[]

If fans confused, the last quarter of just blinded us with non-stop insanity. What starts out as a fairly down-to-earth crime thriller with a supernatural twist takes a completely bizarre turn later in the story - your hero wins Neo (), and kung fu fights the living embodiments of AI. There are several secret societies and clans. The world ends because of a sudden ice age.

I don't even know how to sum this one up. Just watch the cutscene above and try to imbue it all. Sometimes it's really weird! This? Let's just say we're happy that David Cage has decided to tone down kung fu flying battles in his future matches.
