The life path you choose for your character at the start of Cyberpunk 2077 defines where they come from. This is the basis you use to determine the character's trajectory as they explore Night City. When things get hairy or you need to be more aggressive on a job, you need a reliable weapon you can count on to get you out of trouble. Much like the characters in Cyberpunk 2077, the weapons are diverse and you choose how best to use them.
Here are the different types of weapons and their unique qualities in Cyberpunk 2077:
- Cyberware: Turn your arm into a sword or your fingers into a whip. Your body is your weapon and your wrists contain rockets. How else will you make a more personal statement?
- Melee weapons: Get up close and slash your enemies by slicing and dicing them with finesse and precision. But it is complicated work. Prepare to send your clothes to the dry cleaner after you finish a job.
- Smart weapons: No need to worry about aiming. Point your weapon in any direction and the ammo will find its way to your target, flying straight towards them, shaking them with bullets.
- Powerful weapons: Destroy everything in your path. These weapons decimate obstacles and go through anything. These weapons consist of hunting rifles, heavy assault rifles, and submachine guns.
- Technological weapons: These weapons go straight through the thickest foundations and crush anything between you and a target. Are your enemies smart and using cover to protect themselves? Shoot through the blanket and don't give them a place to hide.
These weapons may have attachments that further alter them for your character's playstyle, and you can rely on throwable items to use during a firefight. A throwaway can consist of a grenade, or something more specific, depending on what you have hidden in your jacket or on the inside of your arm.
Your character's personal stats determine your effectiveness with particular weapons, so be sure to see what stats those weapons are based on. A preferred weapon defines your character and gives you the flexibility to handle any mission you choose to take on.
