Best Drawing Apps [Android]

Even if it is not often seen as something serious, the single Tablet (or at least Smartphone) can actually be a more than useful tool for those who want draw some sketch quick or a complete work. Of course, it always depends on the type of design desired and on what type of device you need to start your work. But ultimately, it's always important to have the right App at your fingertips. A program that can offer us tools, optimizations, and more to finish our masterpiece.

Among all the proposals of the network, here are the best solutions that we can put at hand.

Best drawing apps on Android

  1. Ibis PaintX
  2. dotpict
  3. ArtFlow
  4. Adobe Illustrator Draw
  5. Medi Bang Paint

1) Ibis Paint X (). Let's start with an App with a rather professional background. Ibis Paint not only has over a hundred brushes available, but also includes several tools to vary the theme a bit. Among the useful functions available, the possibility of recording the entire drawing operation, including the possibility of using multiple Layers to define the various levels of the drawing. It is a rather serious program, free at the beginning and with a small cost of 5 euros if you intend to confirm the purchase.

2) Dotpict (). If on the one hand we have drawings drawn with felt-tip pens and other similar tools, on the other we can find the increasingly popular art of Pixel Art. That is, to draw anything as if it is an old video game from years gone by. And you can get fantastic results! Dotpict provides all these possibilities: automatic saving, export of drawings in many other formats, and of course the various tools to better choose the type of Pixel to draw. Generally quite simple, without a lot of features. It is generally free as an App, with a small additional cost to unblock everything and remove ads.

3) ArtFlow (). Here is another professional program. ArtFlow it allows you to use over 70 brushes, but it also offers a great set of tools. There are multiple levels and the ability to combine them together without limits. It is possible to save in the most used formats, including the PSD format if you have Photoshop available. If you also have some specific tablet available (such as the Nvidia Shield) you can take advantage of some functions such as the DirectStylus to be able to draw more fluidly. Another excellent example of a solid App, and generally free. If you want to unlock everything, there are two levels, and both are for the most part cheap.

4) Adobe Illustrator Draw (). Ultimately, you can always decide to go for the non-plus-ultra. Adobe Illustrator Draw is an App that naturally aims at the artist with great experience, including different levels, dozens of different sizes for pens and brushes, and a zoom that can go up to 64x to take care of every little aspect of the drawing we have on the screen. Since it can communicate with the cloud of Adobe, you can save your drawing and share it with all other devices using the same account, or pass it directly to your PC. As a rule, it is free, but if you take a monthly subscription to Adobe's Cloud (about 50 euros per month), you unlock the whole program.

5) MediBang Paint (). But is it possible that each program has its price? Fortunately, there are some exceptions. MediBang is an app completely free, which allows you to save on multiple platforms (MacOS and Windows included) thanks to its cloud support. If you have the same program on those operating systems too, you can save the drawing and resume it directly in other places, without any limit. In all honesty, it is a good program, perhaps not very complete compared to the more expensive solutions… but in the end, in fact, MediBang costs absolutely nothing and therefore allows to offer a starting point to every artist.
