It's finally here! Black Desert Mobile launched globally and everyone's first impressions are everywhere. Some people love and praise it, others are not so impressed, but one thing is for sure - not a single MMORPG fan is indifferent to this title. After playing it for a while, I finally managed to write this review and share my experience and my impression of this new MMO, wonder everyone is so excited.
Development and reception
As most of you probably already know, this game is a mobile adaptation of Black Desert Online - one of the most popular MMORPGs today. It was developed by the South Korean video game development studio, Pearl Abyss. Since its release, Black Desert Online has grown in popularity and it wasn't long before the developers announced the mobile adaptation of this acclaimed MMORPG in August 2017. In 2018, Black Desert Mobile was released for select countries in Asia. , and now, after more than 2 years of waiting, it has finally arrived in the western market, following the success pre-registration campaign in which more than 4,5 million users have signed up in a little over 2 months.
Just a day after its release, the game was downloaded over a million times on Google Play alone, where it currently sits at 3,8 out of 5 user score with over 30k ratings. On the iTunes App Store, it has 3,9 out of 5 user score with over 2k ratings and is the # 1 game in the RPG genre.

Since Black Desert Mobile gained universal acclaim for its graphics, I decided to cover this aspect of the game first. Right off the bat, as soon as you enter the character creation screen, you'll notice that all the stories and praise about the in-game graphics were true. The amount of detail that has been placed in the character models is simply astounding. Without exaggeration, Black Desert Mobile is possibly the best looking mobile game today, and its graphics are on par with modern console / pc titles.
Plus, all of the spells and abilities have flashy animations attached to them, and they look just phenomenal. Each of the spell animations is unique and has a distinct look and feel. Other than that the environment is very well done and will bring a pleasant feeling of immersion to the game as a whole.
Now the questions you all are probably asking yourself - "How taxable is my phone?" Do I need a powerful smartphone to play this game? To put it simply, you can play the game on most phones today without the need for a gaming smartphone. The reason is game optimization. Black Desert Mobile has a wide range of settings. graphics, and if you don't have the latest smartphone, you can still play it if you tone down the graphics. Of course, this comes at the cost of significantly poorer visuals, but at least it allows almost anyone to play the game. And if you're one of the lucky people to own a powerful gaming smartphone, you can. always increase the settings to the maximum and you feast on the magnificent visuals that the game has to offer. The only downside is that it will drain your battery quickly, but at least you'll enjoy every moment of playing Black Desert Mobile while you're at it.

Now this is where things get interesting. Once you start the game, you will be able to choose which server you want to play on, and shortly after, you will arrive at the character creation screen. There are five classes to choose from, and each has a very unique and distinct playstyle. You can choose to play as a Warrior, Ranger, Witch, Giant, or Valkyrie. Each of these classes has several unique abilities, and each class excels in certain aspects of the game.
After choosing a class, you will be able to customize the appearance of your character. The developers really went above and beyond for this functionality. In Black Desert Mobile, you can pretty much customize any aspect of your character's appearance. You can change hair, eyes, face structure, height, width, and just about anything that comes to your mind. There is also a The Characters customization feature that would put most The other MMORPGs on the market to shame, including PCs. Hats off to the developers for allowing players to customize their characters in such detail.
Shortly after creating your character, the game will launch and you will be immersed in the beautiful world of Black Desert Mobile. The tutorial segment is quite well done, and it will introduce you to some basic mechanics and gradually teach you how to play a game. To be honest, even if you are not familiar with the MMORPG genre, you will easily be able to play a game. grasp the fundamentals of the gameplay">gameplay, and frankly the game does a pretty good job of slowly introducing new mechanics as you progress, you wouldn't be overwhelmed at any point. Once you get used to the basics of the game, you will learn advanced things like combo abilities, upgrading your gear, and more.
Black Desert Mobile also has cool and cool features. When you reach a certain point in the game, you will be able to build your own camp. This will act as your own personal haven and you can recruit workers, construct various buildings and upgrade them, or just relax while you take a break from the adventure.
When you become powerful enough, you will be able to fight The World Bosses, which will put your skills and knowledge of the game to the test. These bosses bring in some nice rewards, so once you are able to defeat them it will definitely look amazing to you.
And there is a multiplayer aspect to the game as well. As with most other MMORPGs, you will be able to meet and interact with other players, play together, make friends and even form or join a guild. That's pretty standard for most modern MMORPGs, and Black Desert Mobile isn't much different in that regard.
Atmosphere
This part of Black Desert Mobile is quite subjective and depends heavily on the activity you do in the game. Some features of the game, like boss fights, can really raise the blood, especially the first time you meet them. As with most MMORPG games, getting Rare Items can be very rewarding. In addition, successfully completing The Skill Combos and wiping out the dozens of enemies will give you a tremendous sense of satisfaction. Yet while you will enjoy many aspects of the game, you will also find that there are certain repeatable tasks in the game that can quickly start to look like The tasks and can ruin the overall feel. Fortunately, there is a lot of content for gamers, so it will take some time to get to a point where you have nothing left to do.
Verdict
So here's the main question everyone is asking - is Black Desert Mobile really worth playing? When you factor in all of the content in the game, you will quickly realize that it is richer than most of the other MMORPGs on the market. Additionally, the player base for this game is huge, which is one of the main things that determines whether an MMO will live long or not. All things considered, Pearl Abyss has really gone to great lengths to create a memorable MMORPG that gamers can enjoy for years to come, so if you're a fan of this genre, you really want to try it out.
