Microsoft allows you to download the preliminary version of Office 2021 for free, even if, logically, its duration will be limited in time.
According to Microsoft, the preview program is intended for organizations hoping to purchase and distribute the new volume-licensed (perpetual) version of Office, which is expected to ship later this year. This preview program is not intended for organizations that have already purchased and deployed Office from a Microsoft 365 (or Office 365) plan.
Microsoft plans to release a new volume licensed version of Office later this year. Meanwhile, a preview version has been released that is now available for installation and testing on devices running macOS in your organization.
Office 2021 Standard per Mac (anteprima) include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive e Teams.
Instructions to install Office 2021 for Mac (preview)
To install Office 2021 for Mac (preview), follow these steps:
- Download the Office 2021 for Mac installation package file (preview) and then install it on your device. Alternatively, if Office 2019 for Mac is installed on your device, update your existing installation to at least version 16.48.
- Download the Serializer Volume License (VL) package file, named Microsoft_Office_2021_Preview_VL_Serializer.pkg and is approximately 13 MB in size.
- Run the vl serializer package file on your device to activate Office 2021 for Mac (preview). Once activated, the dialog box About the app will show Preview 2021 as a license type.
Important
- Office 2021 for Mac (preview) uses a special activation key that expires on January 17, 2022.
- After that date, Office 2021 for Mac (preview) will switch to reduced functionality mode, which means you'll only be able to read and print documents in users' Office applications. You won't be able to create new documents or edit existing documents with Office 2021 for Mac (Preview).
- In Outlook, you will be able to read the existing items that have been synced with the mailbox, but Outlook will not be able to connect to the email server and sync more items.
