Erase iPhone Backup from PC or Mac

Erase iPhone Backup from PC or Mac

Anyone who owns an iPhone and wants to have their data safe in emergencies such as sudden iPhone restoration, or accidental data deletion or device failure, should make a regular backup via iTunes or iCloud. Every time you synchronize your iPhone with your PC or Mac, via iTunes, a backed up and saved on your computer. Each time a new backup is saved, this means that over time many backup files will be created, and not all of them are necessary (usually only the last one could help us).

Also, having a backup on your computer may not be the best for yours security and privacy… Anyone who connects their iOS device to their computer and restores from backup could import all your data (unless the backup is protected by a password!).

In any case, all these situations could lead us to want to delete iPhone backups from PC or Mac. How to do? Here are the solutions.

If you have backed up your iPhone (or iOS device) via iTunes, then you can delete those backups directly from iTunes:

Step 1. Start iTunes and click on the "Preferences" menu. On Mac, it is under the iTunes menu. On a Windows PC instead it is under the Edit menu.

Step 2. Click the Devices tab. From the section "Backup”Choose the backups to remove and click on“ Delete Backup ”to start their deletion.

The alternative solution is to go directly to the folder where those backup files are saved and proceed with the removal from there.

Here are the directories where iPhone backups are saved on PC and Mac:

    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

The "~" symbol represents the root directory of your computer. If you don't find the Library folder in the main folder, go to Options and click on the Go menu.
