FIFA 21 Shooting Tips - How To Shoot

Use the circular button to shoot. See above. You want to find the sweet spot when you press and hold the shoot button. Too much ball will go over the goal. Too little and it will be very easy for the keeper to stop.

Normal hits

Basic shooting in FIFA 21 is done by pressing the Circle button (B button on Xbox). To shoot effectively, you need to press and hold this button to fill a meter which you will see at the bottom of the screen. The longer you hold down the fire button, the higher the bullet will travel and the harder the shot will be. Regular shots are used in combination with using the left stick to aim the shot for best results.

Chip Shots

There are often times when the goalkeeper stray too far from the goal and the use of a chip shot is appropriate. This type of shot attempts to get the ball over the goalkeepers' reach and into the goal. To perform a bullet shot, you must use a shot modifier. This shot modifier is the L1 button on PlayStation or the LB button on Xbox.

  • PlayStation: L1 + Circle
  • Xbox: L2 + B

Fine strokes

Another type of shot modifier is fine shots. Finesse moves have a high hit rate, and just like the other FIFA moves above, they rely on a combination of buttons, aim, and timing. To make an almost unstoppable shot in FIFA 21 with the finesse shot, use the R1 shot modifier (RB on Xbox).

As with other shots, you should always aim with the left stick and you should always make sure that you don't put too much power on the shot. Staying between 2-3 green bars is appropriate for most distances.

  • PlayStation: R1 + Circle
  • Xbox: RB + Circle

Long shots

Long shots are tough in real life and they're just as tough in FIFA 21. The stars are going to have to line up so you can take the really long shots, but you can get in a good position to do more. To do this, you're going to want to use the finesse power hit. This will basically consist of using the R1 finesse modifier on your shot while doing the aforementioned things like aiming the pole and using between 2-3 power bars.

One thing to keep in mind when trying these shots is that you know the player you're trying to shoot with. For the best chance of making long shots, you want to use the player's dominant foot and aim for the post on that foot. Depending on the positioning in the field, this can be difficult to do.

Timed finishes

Timed finishes in FIFA 21 work the same as in previous games, meaning they are extremely difficult to master, but can be really rewarding once you do. The perfect execution of a timed finish will make your shot almost unstoppable. To perform a timed finish, you need to charge the power meter just like you would on a normal shot by pressing the Circle or B button. Then you need to watch the player animation to see the exact moment when they will hit the ball. . At this time, you want to press Circle or B button again to lock the timed end. You will get some green for a well executed timed finish.
