Final Fantasy 7 Remake: How To Beat The Squat Off Minigame | Guide

What makes the crouch mini-game so tricky is that the input sync HUD element eventually disappears, forcing the player to figure out when (and what) to press. The game seems deceptively difficult, but if you understand the trick, it is extremely easy to unlock the "Professional" rank and earn a bonus "Sultan of Squat" trophy. No need to skip this one. I will explain to you how to beat each opponent with a simple strategy.

Sultan of Squat Trophy Guide

To earn the 'Squat Off"Challenge and win the champion belt, which gives + 10% max health and + 5% strength, you will have to defeat three opponents. Beat all three to earn all three rewards and unlock the "Sultan of Squat" trophy.

This game is actually a lot easier to beat than it looks. You'll be challenged by increasingly difficult opponents - three in total - but if you learn the trick, this mini-game is incredibly straightforward.

  • To win every Squat Off, do not rush! Early pushing of the button will cause you to trip and fall. It wastes precious time.
  • Go as slowly as possible until the button counter is moving at a crazy rate. You have to press the buttons in the same Fallen every time - Triangle, circle, cross, square, etc..
  • Wait for the Cloud animation to stop. When it does, it's your turn to press the next button in the series. As long as you press the right button, you won't trip!
  • After creating a combo, the player will move so fast that you can smoothly press each button. You don't even have to rush! Just press these four buttons at a steady pace and you'll easily outlast your competition.

The trick? Don't fail! If you don't press the buttons too early, you will always win. You can't press the button too late. Your opponents will always stumble in the end, especially on the last “pro” round. You might lose for the first 10-15 seconds, but once it falls you'll be leading it so far that it can never catch up.

For your effort, you will earn three rewards: x3 Mega-Points, Luck Up Materia and Championship Belt Equipment. The Championship Belt is pretty awesome, so I recommend equipping it on the Cloud to give your offense a little more oomph.
