While using an Android device you may happen to get the message Google Play Services has been shut down. Such a warning could cause inexperienced users to panic. Clear your cache
The first solution that we recommend you use is that of completely clear the Play Services cache acting through the Settings.
Let's find out the steps to follow together:
- Grab your Android smartphone or tablet, open the Settings pressing ongear present on the home screen, in the app drawer or by pulling down the notification curtain and then locate the item Applications (App, App and notifications o Management uses).
- At this point, identify theapp Google Play Services (using the search function if necessary) and press on to access the window of Information.
- Now, click on Storage space, tap the button Clear cache/Clear cache depending on your device.
- At the end of this operation, we suggest you restart the Android device. At the next restart, check if the message Google Play Services he has been arrested is shown again.
Reset the app settings
If you still keep getting some weird messages related to Google Play services, then try to reset the app settings. In some smartphones, in fact, there is an option within the menu of Applications which allows you to reset the app preferences.
Remove and add Google account
To resolve theGoogle Play Services has stopped error, we also suggest you try to remove and re-add theGoogle account always via Android Settings.
Let's see how to do it together:
- Always open the Settings as indicated above and locate the item Account o Account management.
- Once this is done, press on yours Google account (usually identifiable by the e-mail address of Gmail) and then press the button Remove account. Usually, this button can be found from the menu that appears after pressing on 3 dots top right.
Once theGoogle account, you can reach it by pressing on + Add account (always inside the menu) and choosing Google. At this point, fill in the e-mail address or telephone number and password fields with the right credentials and proceed with the login.
Uninstall and reinstall Google Play Services
Since it is a system application, it is not possible to completely remove the Google Play services. However, you can uninstall the updates and reinstall them again.
Let's see together the steps to follow:
- Always access the menu of Applications, identified theapp Google Play Services and plug us up.
- At this point, press on 3 vertical dots present at the top right, choose Uninstall updates and confirm by pressing on OK.
In case you would get a message regarding the inability to disattivare Google Play Services, you must first proceed with the deactivation in the menu Amministratore device as the app is set as a device administrator. To do this, go to Settings and locate the item within Safety or by exploiting the possible search field.
Update Google Play Services
The message of Google Play Services has stopped error it may also appear if you have an older version of the app. You can try to solve it by carrying out a simple update which can be done either through the Google Play Store (by pressing the button Update) that by downloading the APK file from Internet. In this case, we recommend that you use the well-known website APKMirror. Let's find out the steps to follow together:
- Open the browser on your Android device (eg. Chrome o Firefox), connect to the page dedicated to Google Play Services on the portal of APKMirror and locate the section All versions.
- Once this is done, look for the latest release available, taking care to discard those containing the entries beta o alpha in the name (eg Google Play Services 16.0.89) and press on arrow pointing down to access the download page.
- Now, go to the section Download and press on the latest version available under the column Variant (es. 16.0.89 (000300-239467275).
- The operation is completed by pressing the button Download aPK and waiting for the countdown. Press on OK from the message that appears and then tap on apri and proceed with the installation by clicking on Install.

Empty the Google Services Framework cache
Google Services Framework is a system application that stores smartphone information and ensures correct synchronization with the Google server for data exchange. Hence, the mistake Google Play Services has been shut down it could also be caused by a malfunction of Services Framework.
Let's see how to do it:
- Always access the menu of Applications, identified Google Services Framework via the list and press on it to access the information screen. If the software does not appear, you may need to enable the display of system app pressing on the item Show system app from the top menu that appears after pressing on 3 dots.
- At this point, click on Force break and then press on Clear cache inside Storage space.
- Complete the procedure by restarting the device.
Restore factory settings
