Halo Infinite Zeta Halo Tuning, Explained

The latest adventure in the Halo universe, Infinite Halo, returns Master Chief to one of the titular rings. Facing the Covenant rebels, the outcast, our hero in the green armor fights for humanity on another of these intergalactic apocalyptic devices.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar, 343 Industries confirmed that this ring is Zeta Halo, or Installation 07. Now occupied by a dangerous and unpredictable sect of Covenant outliers, Master Chief will likely dig deep into this mysterious new room in the Halo Array. , discovering more of the ancient history of these gigantic objects as he does.

Zeta Halo isn't new though, and we've got quite a bit of context to take from the Halo franchise for the ring and where its story takes us. Here's everything we know so far about tuning Halo Infinite.

The problem with explaining the rings of Halo is that in order to do that you have to start delving into the franchise lore, which can be a bit long to say the least. An easy place to start is that the Halo Array is made up of 18 rings in total - 12 following one outline, and six more in another. They are all roughly similar, with the first dozen being slightly larger and less effective than the others. The Zeta Halo is the last of those 12 originals still in a working state, and has received many explanations in Halo: Cryptum, Halo: Primordium, and Halo: Silentium, Greg Bear's trilogy of Forerunner novels.

Zeta's story is actually linked to ours in the Halo universe. In this timeline, humanity as we know it today is the result of a soft reset caused by an intergalactic war we lost against the Forerunners, the technologically advanced company that built the Halo Network. Most of us were sent back to the Stone Age, but a fragment has been preserved on Zeta as part of the Forerunners' dedication to cataloging and studying all life in the universe. As such, Zeta holds the earliest known records of human life. This preservation was found to be crucial to the existence of all living things when the network was pulled to stop the Flood for the first time, leaving the last group of Forerunners to repopulate the galaxy using their own samples.

The Zeta that we find is quite different from when it was built. Several sets of damage caused serious changes, ranging from the reduction in its diameter from 30 kilometers to 000 kilometers to the massive fracture that occurred during the events of Halo 10. What remains intact for eons of existence remains to be seen. .

What does Zeta Halo look like in Halo Infinite?

Gameplay reveals that Zeta Halo looks a lot like every other Halos you've encountered - a perfectly barred environment full of buildings, rocks, and forests to explore and photograph. The outcast have taken over the structure, which isn't good considering they're a bloodthirsty organization of defeated Covenanters and other mercenaries and thieves, and it's up to the Master Chief to try and force the warmongers. aliens to get away from the obsolete weapon of mass destruction.

We don't see or hear much directly about the state that Zeta's bowels are in, but it's a safe bet that many of them are in ruins that have been shaken up but otherwise preserved. Considering the established human connection, finding remains of the humanity that came before us is quite plausible, and the Flood is an ever-present threat when excavating Forerunner's remains. Halo 3 villain, Begging Bias, has actually been set up here, committing all kinds of heinous experiments in the name of science, which opens up the possibility for whatever we discover to tie directly into the Bungie trilogy and our own. personal history with the series.
