Ranked competition will be fierce in Star Wars: Squadrons. There will be competitive seasons in the Star Wars air combat game where players can regularly rank up and compete against other players matching their skills. Each of the competitive seasons will be called Operations and will only last eight weeks, so you have limited time to play various matches against other players and move up the ranks.

To qualify for an operation, you must participate in 10 placement matches. After these placement matches, depending on their outcome, you will be placed in one of the game's five levels: Maverick, Hotshot, Hero, Valiant, Legend or Galactic Ace, with Maverick being the lowest and Galactic Ace being the highest. . Each of the ranks has a numbered division ranging from one to five, with five being the highest.

Once you have received your ranking and are numbered there, you need to play more games to earn higher ranks. However, you cannot go down one rank. For example, if you start in Hero and lose games, you can't go from Hero to Hotshot, but you can go from Hero 3 to Hero 2. So if you rank from Hero to Valiant, you can't fall back. in Hero if you lose some games. This is a good way to ensure that players are not constantly stressed about losing games when they immediately gain a new rank.

At the end of the eight week operation, everything resets. You receive a large chunk of Glory, the currency tied to unlocking cosmetics, depending on your overall placement. There will be unique cosmetics available for each operation and other timely challenges. Exclusive helmets are also awarded to players for reaching Valiant, Legend, and Galactic Ace ranks during an Operation. These helmets will remain the same for each operation.

While short and quick, these eight-week operations will serve as the backbone of the Star Wars: Squadrons community. Developer Motive Studios plans to keep a close eye on this part of the game, making sure everything stays balanced and collecting consistent feedback from the community on anything overkill or what they need to adjust.
