There will be five main game modes in Rocket Arena when it releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. These types of games are Knockout, Rocketball, Mega Rocket, Treasure Hunt, and Rocketbot Attack.

Game modes can also be played in Social or Ranked modes. Social media allows you to try out game types, heroes, and more without a competitive edge. Ranked, meanwhile, is only available in Knockout, Rocketball, and Mega Rocket. You can reach level 50 in this trio, and you will be rewarded for it.

Let's see what each will involve:

knock out

Knockout forces you, well, to kick your opponents out of the arena. Teams can use their rockets, abilities, and items to launch opponents out of the designated area, and you will be awarded points, via KOs, for doing so. The first team to achieve the required score wins the match.

Rocketball

If you've ever played Rocket League or something like Grifball in Halo Multiplayer, you'll understand what this mode is all about.

Two teams are tasked with picking up the title element and scoring it for the opposition goal. You can score a goal by running it, throwing it, or blasting it with your rockets. The team with the highest score at the end of the round, or the team that reaches the required total points before the end of the timer, wins.

Mega Rocket

In Mega Rocket mode, a giant rocket crashes into the arena and sends each player flying across the map. Once disembarked, a capture area is set up. The goal, like other capture point modes in other games, is to defend the area or capture it for your team. Once you've captured a rocket, another will land somewhere else and the cycle will begin.

The team that has captured the most rockets at the end of the match, or reaches the point cap before the time runs out, will be crowned the winner.

Treasure hunt

It is a fusion of a type of game based on collecting coins and a type of capturing an object. In Treasure Hunt, you will score points for your team in two different ways:

  • Hold the treasure chest - pick up the chest and hold it to earn points. You will earn bonus points for getting the last coin in each chest that appears in the arena
  • Pickup Coins - these are scattered around the map once the game starts. Just grab them because they seem to accumulate more points

The team with the most points at the end of the match wins.

Rocketbot Attack

This is a cooperative rather than competitive game mode, and is a slight variation on Knockout. The object of this type of game is to simply eliminate all Rocketbots before the time runs out.

The School of Rockets center will also be there for you to practice your skills, play the tutorial to learn the controls, or create custom games for you and your friends. It is not a game mode per se, but, but you can create custom games from the above game types to create something unique.
