Facebook is increasingly becoming the heart of our online world. From news to games, passing through information about work, school and our friends, everything is practically inside the social created by Mark Zuckerberg. But if there is a problem with all of this, it is ours privacy she has fewer and fewer ways to be protected. Perhaps one of the most disturbing problems that arose following the recent updates of the social network application for Android e iOS is the ability to create a GPS geolocation system of friends.
In short, the option was created on Facebook Friends nearby which allows you to see who your Facebook friends are around you and at the same time show your location to them.
This function, which certainly has useful and perhaps even interesting features, can however be decidedly harmful to our privacy. If like me you don't like giving information about yourself to anyone, then you may prefer to deactivate this function.
It is not difficult to do this, and just do the following.
Disable "Nearby friends"
- Open the Facebook app from your smartphone
- Tap su Other (the hamburger menu from which you access the settings)
- Go on Friends nearby and tap the gear icon
- Now from Friends deactivate the function by removing the consent to the use of the position or by moving the nearby Friends lever to deactivate
You can also decide to share your position only with some friends of your favorite lists, if you really are not convinced that you want to permanently deactivate the function. Obviously, to reactivate it, just go back and repeat what has been done in reverse.
