How to restore an iPhone from the lock screen (iOS 15+)

Password locking isn't one of the easiest procedures for the average user - some technical knowledge, a handy computer, and a lot of internet research are needed to fix the problem. The work is such that many people prefer to seek assistance, or give up on recovering the device.

In that sense, Apple has simplified the task with the upgrade to iOS 15.2 and allows you to restore an iPhone from the lock screen. Therefore, no advanced knowledge is required and there is no need to use a computer. The “Reset iPhone” option will appear as a native system option, as long as the device is connected to an Internet network.

This option, however, does not guarantee that you will have access to personal data after resetting the device. It will remain locked until logged in via iCloud with the owner's registered Apple ID. See below for all resource requirements

  1. iPhone must be updated to iOS 15.2 or later;
  2. The device must be connected to a mobile network or Wi-FI;
  3. You must have access to the Apple ID registered on the device to set it up.
