If you want WhatsApp you have to swallow with its policy

WhatsApp, aka Facebook, took some time to explain to users that if they don't accept its privacy policy, they could lose access to the account.

Nothing surprising, but it's okay that they explain how things are going to go if they don't accept their privacy policy. It will go like this:

WhatsApp continues to pave the way to make changes to its privacy policy in relation to corporate chats. The changes have caused an unprecedented allergic reaction among users, who have begun to migrate en masse to other platforms, jeopardizing the near-monopolistic leadership that WhatsApp has in some parts of the world.

However, since business is business, ultimately nothing will stop those changes in "spying and listening to conversations" (although conversations are encrypted, WhatsApp backup in the cloud not it è) to offer us the best of personalized ads.

The repercussions of refusing to accept changes to WhatsApp's privacy policy were specified in an email sent to their corporate customers, and are now also on the WhatsApp website, where they state:

To give you enough time to review the changes at your own pace and convenience, we've extended the effective date to May 15th.

WhatsApp will not delete / initially / delete the accounts of users who have not accepted the new privacy policy, but they will not be able to enjoy all the functions of the program until they do so.

For a short time you will be able to receive calls and notifications, but you will not be able to read or send messages from the application.

The time that is considered "short" is not specified, but we are certainly not talking about months ...

After May 15, users will be able to accept the changes to the WhatsApp privacy policy and the features will be restored. If they still don't, WhatsApp kindly reminds us that they have a defined policy regarding inactive users:

Typically, WhatsApp accounts that have been inactive for more than 120 days are deleted to maintain security, limit data retention, and protect user privacy. It is considered inactivity when the user does not connect to WhatsApp.

If you can't send messages, this is likely to be considered unconnected, so after four months (around September 15th) your account will be deleted along with all conversations and content.

As with Apple when you want to delete the iCloud account, WhatsApp warns:

It may take up to 90 days from the start of the removal process for your WhatsApp information to be deleted. Copies of your information may also be retained after 90 days in the backup archive we use to recover data in the event of a natural disaster, software error or other data loss event. During that time, your information will not be available on WhatsApp.

Until May 15th, you can download a backup copy of the contents of your account.
