iOS 14.5 recalibrates the iPhone 11 battery

With iOS 14.5, Apple included a new process to recalibrate battery status calculations on the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max.

The update will recalibrate the maximum battery capacity and maximum performance capacity on the iPhone 11 modelos models to correct the erroneous battery health estimates that some users have suffered.

Symptoms of this failure are rapid and unexpected battery discharge or, in some cases, reduced maximum performance capacity, although the update should correct them.

After updating the iPhone 11‌ to iOS 14.5 or later (Settings -> General -> Software Update), you will see a message in the Settings app, under Battery> Battery status, informing you of the recalibration process.

The process may take a few weeks after the update, as it takes several charge cycles to be able to recalculate the battery capacity and performance.

It should also be noted that the percentage of maximum capacity will not change during recalibration, and even if the maximum performance capacity is updated, it may not be appreciable.

If recalibration indicates that the health of the battery has significantly decreased, a message will be displayed stating that it needs to be replaced.
