Madden 21 PS5 Improvements

Madden NFL 21 on PS5 will feature the following enhancements.

  • Controller haptics
    • Feel the impact of every catch, tackle, and kick with immersive controller haptics. A new PS5 ™ DualSense ™ controller with rich, responsive haptic feedback deepens the gaming experience by letting you feel the rhythm of the game in your hands. Players will receive audio and haptic feedback that will teach them the game and immerse them in the experience. Imagine feeling a warning for an oncoming blitz linebacker or feeling the thud of a winning grip in your hand. With new dual channel vibration technology driven by haptic waves, feedback can be provided to each hand separately to let you feel what the players are feeling on the pitch. With the use of adaptive triggers, users feel resistance on the trigger to give feedback on a player breaking a tackle or lacking in stamina.
  • Deferred lighting and rendering
    • New authentic environments, unlocked by a new delayed lighting system, create ultra-realistic football experiences and player loyalty, improving the game in every part of the stadium. See more details everywhere.
    • Everything looks more realistic with the new next generation lighting model. Players have never looked so good and bright even in more difficult scenarios like night time, unclear weather types, and domed stadiums. Pyro VFX casts dynamic shadows that dramatically improve fidelity on player exit tunnels. Delayed lighting allows for more light sources in our NFL environments, creating beautifully lit details.
  • Next-gen gameplay and sidelines
    • New contextual reactions from players, bench and fans let you feel the explosive passion of the last-minute winner or a decisive touchdown. And pre-game cutscenes deliver an unprecedented daytime experience to immerse you in the sights and sounds of the NFL.
    • In-game experiences deliver authentic, dense sidelines and beautifully rendered crowds that you can interact with alongside true NFL player movement and reactions after the game. Your teammates, who were once only on the sidelines, now have more meaningful interactions during the match.
    • The improved hardware provided by next-gen consoles has allowed us to dramatically increase the number of unique secondary entities while simultaneously adding levels of interactivity, authenticity, and responsiveness never before seen in Madden NFL.
      • The players on the sidelines have the likeness, name, body type and skin type.
      • Players will jump out of the path of an out of bounds ball or get out of the way when a player runs or is pushed out of bounds. The characters on the sideline are set up to watch and react to the play.
      • Improved head tracking and unique interactions for all characters in the player's box without pairing
