Mario Kart Tour: list of drivers

Mario Kart Tour features an array of different drivers to play. Like any good mobile game, not all characters are created with the same characteristics. Many of them will have different aspects making them more suitable for playing. For example, many characters have a list of favorite courses that they will prioritize, which allows them to keep three different items during a race when they smash an item cube. These differences matter. Here is the general list of levels for current pilots in the game.

List of drivers in Mario Kart Tour

There are 20 pilots available in the game at the moment. Others are likely to be released in future updates. For now, this list of levels is going to stick to 20. Divided into levels A through D, here's how they fare:

  • A Rank: Dry Bowser, Mario (Musician) and Peachette
  • Rank B: Pauline, Metal Mario and Diddy Kong
  • Rank C: Dry Bones, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Toadette, Toad, Marguerite, Yoshi, Peach and Mario
  • Row D: Shy Guy, Koopa Troopa, Daisy, Baby Peach, and Baby Mario

The three in rank A have four go-to courses where they're going to win the frenzy, with the exception of Peachette, she only has three. However, even though Peachette has three, she places herself above Pauline and Metal Mario who have two three-element courses and more two-element courses. Compared to Dry Bowser and Mario (musician), its drop rate is not as low, making it a great choice for riders who need a top-level, reliable rider.

The three in rank B have two privileged three-item courses, with the exception of Diddy Kong who has three. What sets Diddy Kong apart is the number of two-point courses - five. In addition, it has a large capacity called "Banana Barrels". He'll throw multiple bananas across the map, causing trouble for every driver who passes them.

Those in rank C have a higher score than those in rank D, but they are not impossible to obtain. They are great if you don't have top level pilots available for certain courses. The more you level them, the more opportunity you'll have to trigger a frenzy during your run.

The final ranking, the D ranking, are the most common drivers that a player can pick up. You won't see many players using these pilots unless they have no other choice. All the pilots in this ranking have only one three-item course, which makes them extremely specialized. It will depend on a player's ability to optimize and upgrade a D-rank driver as they play, and how comfortable they become using that driver's unique abilities.

If you don't like the initial drivers that you collect when you start the game, you have the option of starting all over and relaunching your drivers. We have a guide here explaining how you can go about it.
