As you can see from reading the next paragraphs, the solutions listed below are not only free (at least as regards their basic use), but are also very simple to use. Make good use of it!

This is an app that offers the possibility to create photos for identity documents using those that are already saved locally on your device and / or creating new ones. Know that, by purchasing its full version, which costs 4,19 euros, it is possible to access some extra features, such as the one related to the elimination of the background from the photos.


    After installing and starting "Photos - Passports, Identity Cards and Visas" on your device, press the button Start, quindi quello (+) New photo and select il Country of your interest (eg. British: Passport, ID Visa). Using the box that appeared on the screen, it then indicates the desired image resolution (eg. 300 DPI, 450 DPI o 600 DPI) and its voice OK.

    In the screen that opened, then tap the button Camera, if you want to take a photo at the moment, or on the button Gallery, if you want to use a photo already saved on the device and then press the button Processing begins. At this point, if you want to continue using the free version of the app, press the buttons in sequence Continue with advertising (for four consecutive times) e I understand and agree.


    If necessary, straighten or rotate the photo using the tools available in the app and press the buttons NextI understand and agree. Once this is done, follow the instructions on the screen to crop the photo correctly (just match the shape that acts as a guideline to the face portrayed in the photo) and press the button Next, located at the top right.

    If you wish, retouch the photo by adjusting the main parameters, using the buttons Brightness, Contrast, Exposure, Saturation e Temperature present in the screen that opened, then tap the button Next placed at the top right and presses the button Save, located at the top right. In the box that opens, choose the format where to export the output photo (JPEG o PNG) and the size of the file. When you're ready to do it, then tap the button Save and you can save the passport photo locally.


    By keeping the app open, however, you can press the button Print multiple copies, to print the photos, by selecting the print format you prefer.

Before explaining how it works, however, I would like to tell you that the latter applies a watermark on the passport photos created, which can be removed by purchasing the full version of the app, which costs € 1,99.


    After installing and starting "Passport Photo Documents" on your device, tap on thelittle man located in the center of the screen and select the ID photo format you are interested in (eg. city ​​Documents 4,5 x 3,5 cm, city ​​Passport 4 x 3 cm, Etc.).

    Next, tap on the icon camera located on the right (at the top of the screen) and choose whether to upload a photo already saved locally or to take one at the moment. After importing the photo of your interest to the app, use the shape that appears on the screen to correctly position the portrait subject.

    Once this is done, click on the item end placed at the top right and adjusts contrast, brightnesssaturation of the image using the appropriate items in the editor. Then decide the number of photos to be printed, the page format you intend to use for printing and press the button Save, to save passport photos, and / or on the button Continue, to go to the screen that allows you to print them.

    To remove the watermark applied to the passport photos you made, tap the button Remove watermark and choose to buy the full version of the app by selecting the item 1,99 €.

    • Photo teasers (Android / iOS / iPadOS) - is a free app that allows you to take passport photos using predefined templates for 100 countries. To unlock the function that allows you to get color images, however, you have to buy its full version, which costs 4,49 euros.
    • Photo essera app (Android) - this application allows you to change the background of the photos, setting a neutral color that can be good for the documents in which to add an ID photo.

    After making the passport photos using the solutions I mentioned earlier, would you like to know if there is any app to print them? In reality, as I have already shown you extensively in the previous chapters, it is possible to do this through the use of the same apps I have already told you about.

    However, if you want to access even more advanced features, you can take advantage of some app to print photo cards, for example PrinterShare which is available for free for Android and iOS / iPadOS or Printer Pro for iOS / iPadOS, which costs 7,99 euros but can be tested for free thanks to its Lite version.

    After installing and starting Scanbot on your device, follow the short tutorial that shows you how the app works and decide whether to use its free version or whether to switch to the paid one. Then frame, with the camera of your smartphone or tablet, the passport photo of your interest.

    Follow the instructions you see on the screen to position the device in the right way. If you want, you can also enable the functions Multi-page e Luce (located at the bottom), to create a multi-page scan and activate the camera's flash to shed light on the passport photos to be scanned.

    Once the image has been acquired by the app, decide whether to save it in color, black and white or grayscale, using the appropriate filters, and modify the scan by cropping or rotating it.

    • Genius Scan (Android / iOS / iPadOS) - considered one of the best apps to perform scans, this solution offers the possibility to digitize documents of all kinds and, of course, also passport photos. It is free, but a paid version is also available, which costs € 8,99 and offers access to some extra features.
    • Quick PDF Scanner (Android) - this app, available only for Android, offers the possibility to quickly and easily digitize documents and photos, thanks to its algorithm which is able to detect the edges of the latter in an "intelligent" way.
