Pokemon Go - How to Evolve Eevee

How to evolve Eevee

If you want to evolve an Eevee you will need to catch an Eevee first and have at least 25 Eevee Candies. Additionally, the new Eevee Party Hat cannot evolve, with the previous Eevee Flower Crown could be evolved. Shiny Eevees can evolve as well, really wanting you to save this one for a special evolution if possible.

Right from the start, Pokemon Go has set up a way for you to downright guarantee one of each of the evolutions, starting with Aquali, Voltali, and Pyroli. This trend continued with the other four evolutions of Mentali, Noctali, Phyllali, and Givrali as well as every connection to the Pokemon anime.

For the purposes of this guide, we'll start by listing the guaranteed easy way to get the Eeveelution you want with a special naming mechanic. To obtain the specific evolution you want, name your Eevee the exact name indicated below associated with this evolution. After naming the Eevee, close the app completely and reload it. This ensures that the server updates your name change and will not mess up this process. Once you open it, choose the Eevee you want to evolve that you have renamed and press the button to evolve and it will evolve into the respective Eeveelution. However, this only works once for each morph, so keep reading past the list of names below to find out how to trigger each morph after it.

  • Aquali - Rainer
  • Voltali - Sparky
  • Pyroli - Pyro
  • Mental - Sakura
  • Noctali - Tamao
  • Phyllali - Linnea
  • Givrali - Rea

For the initial bundle of three evolutions, Aquali, Voltali, and Phyllali, there is no way to guarantee which of the three you will receive. By selecting an Eevee and pressing the evolve button, it will evolve in one of three random evolutions. The good news is that you have a 33% chance of getting the one you want, as the other four require different evolution methods. Eevee being quite large in Pokemon Go, it shouldn't be that hard to find enough candy to try this out until you get the one you want.

By switching to the two evolutions of Johto, Mentali and Noctali, there is a more precise way to guarantee which ones you will get as you evolve. For both, you must first do the Eevee you want to evolve your Buddy Pokemon in the game, then walk 10 miles with them, making sure you receive two Buddy Candies in the process. At this point, make sure to keep Eevee as a friend and force close the game and reopen it like we did above to ensure the servers are up to date with your information. Now the key to triggering evolution here is based on whether you want Mentali or Noctali. If you want to evolve your Eevee into Mind, then evolve it during the day. If you want to upgrade your Noctali, upgrade it overnight. Just make sure you step away from the in-game clock depending on whether the map is light or dark to get the correct one.

Finally, we have the two Gen 5 evolutions, Phyllali and Givrali. It doesn't require as much effort as getting Mentali and Noctali, but it will take an item to do so. Pokemon Go has introduced three types of new elemental-based lures that attract special Pokemon types than PokeStop. Additionally, these decoys can trigger special morphs as well, this is how we can get a Phyllali or a Frostbite. What you'll need to do is place a Mossy Lure Mod or Frost Lure Mod on a PokeStop, then choose an Eevee from your inventory and choose to evolve it within range. Doing this with a Mossy Decoy mod will give you Phyllali, while doing this with a Glacial Decoy mod will naturally give you Frostbite. If you haven't won these decoys elsewhere, you can purchase more for 200 coins in the shop. As a result, these two evolutions are probably the two you will do the least in the game.

There is currently no way to get Nymphali in Pokemon Go, but it will happen sooner or later when we finally get to the next generation of Pokemon in the Kalos region. We're sure there will be two ways to get Nymphali as well, so you'll need to stay tuned when possible.
