Pokémon GO Kanto Raid Day Guide - Everything You Need To Know

Kanto Raid Day Guide

Below, we outline everything that happens during the Pokémon GO Kanto Raid Day event. The big stars are the legendary raids on Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres which will be available throughout the multi-hour event. So, before we explain how long you'll have to fight them and what the rewards are, let's answer the biggest question most players will have.

How to beat Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres

If you want to get the most out of your Kanto Raid Day experience, you'll need a solid set of counters or a large team of players to take on them. To help you out, we've already designed specific guides on how to beat Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Check them out for the best tips on how to beat them and which counters to use.

When is the day of the Kanto raid, how long is it

To round off the nostalgic events of the week, Kanto Raid Day takes place on Sunday, February 28 in Pokémon GO. Things start at 11am in your local time zone and will continue until 14pm, which will give you 2 hours to take on as many raids on Articuno, Zapdos and / or Moltres as possible during the window. And you'll want to make a bunch of them because the bonuses are great, including extra raid passes to help you get into the fights.

Will Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres have any exclusive moves on the day of the Kanto raid?

It looks like the Legendary Three Birds will have their exclusive moves if captured during the Kanto Raid Day event, but we're awaiting confirmation on that.

How to get Shiny Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres (Shiny Odds)

Shiny Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will all be available throughout Kanto Raid Day, but only at the same rate as they've been all week. The shiny odds for a raid are usually around one in twenty, so to get one you might need to do multiple raids. There is no specific way to increase your odds other than fighting them as much as you can and catching him once he spawns.

How to get more Raid Passes

Coaches can receive a total of five free Raid Passes during the Kanto Raid Day event. To get them, all you need to do is use your current Free Raid Pass, then spin a Gym or Poké Stop to get another. If you start the day with your free pass, you can use it and get five more, for a total of six.

Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leader Changes

A new Team GO Rocket special research quest will begin on February 28 with The Higher They Fly. This will also likely coincide with a change in the alignments of the Leaders and Giovanni. We will provide more guides for this once we can.

TM Away Frustration

During this event, you will be able to take the frustration away from your Shadow Pokémon. Make sure you do this if you have one that you want to use in PvP battles or PvE raids.
