How to recruit wild Pokémon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

Unlike traditional Pokémon games, you won't be using Pokeballs or anything like that to convince wild Pokémon to come with you. Instead, recruiting comes down entirely to chance. Defeating a wild Pokemon may invite it to request to join your rescue team, but that doesn't happen every time. Wild Pokemon will be more likely to ask to join high-level rescue teams, so you should be able to acquire plenty of teammates later in the game. There are also a handful of items or special abilities acquired from from gummi items (you can get them for free by using Codes Wonder Mail) which can increase your chances of recruiting wild Pokémon.

It should also be noted that Pokémon recruiting is not available until defeat Airmure at Mt. Steel, which occurs after a few hours of play. Once recruited, these new allies will follow you throughout the dungeon. If you want to make them permanent additions to your rescue team, however, they'll need a place to stay. It's there that Rescue team camps get in the game.

How do the Rescue Team camps work?

Just like you and your Pokemon partner, any wild Pokemon you recruit in Mystery Dungeon will need a place to stay. You can set up campsites to house your new allies, but these cost money, so you'll need to choose wisely which Pokémon you decide to take with you all the time. Camps can be purchased from Corner of the Grodoudou camp in the far right of the city. Each Pokémon prefers a different type of camp, so you can't send everyone to the cheaper ones. Recruiting a wild Pokemon without having the correct campsite will cause it to leave the party once you leave the dungeon, so it's important to have a variety of camps at all times.

If you're in a dungeon and recruiting a Pokémon that you don't have the right side for, then don't worry. Using a Orbe Grodoudou inside a dungeon allows you to contact Grodoudou while in the field and purchase the appropriate housing option for your new friends. It is good practice to always wear Grodoudou Orbs, and they can be found at Kecleon shops if you're already in a pinch.

Some special Pokémon, like Legendaries, cannot be recruited on the first attempt, so you may have to wait until the end of the game to add powerful allies to your rescue team.
