Sea of Thieves Guide: How to Join a Crew

Last March 20th was the day one of Sea of Thieves. The Microsoft exclusive managed to register about 1 million players in the first 24 hours after its launch, despite some minor technical problems. As any fan of the Microsoft exclusive will surely know, the collaboration is a fundamental element to make its way through the dangers that haunt the seven seas. Precisely for this reason, one of the first things you'll have to do will be to join a crew, in order to find faithful companions who will keep you company in your adventures. If you have just installed the game and do not know how to do it, this guide will explain all the necessary steps.

Sea of Thieves: How to find companions for your adventures in Sea of Thieves

Let's start with one step as simple as it is important. It doesn't matter whether you're a first time player on Sea of Thieves or not: every time you start the game you'll always be taken to the ship selection screen where you decide to set sail. In this case, there are two choices. You can choose to "embark" on a galleon, a giant ship, to say the least, the largest in the game, with many pirates inside it; or you can choose to set sail on a small lifeboat, the perfect boat for solo adventures.

Which ship will you choose?

As someone may have already understood, this is the way the title is asking if you are going to join the huge game community, or if you prefer to sail alone. In case you select the lifeboat, you'll find yourself on your own boat, and you'll have to sail to the tavern, from where you can start your journey. There is, however, an important detail to mention: although you prefer the lifeboat, you will find yourself on "your boat", most of the game world is populated by other players, with whom you will still interact.

If, on the other hand, your choice falls on the galleon, you'll access a screen where you'll be asked to manually invite your friends, or even other players you've met before. This is exactly how you'll play with your friends in Sea of Thieves. In this screen, in fact, you'll easily notice the "Invite a player" option, with which you can select someone from your list of friends who would like to join your adventure in the boundless oceans of the Microsoft exclusive.

Galleon or lifeboat?

Will you be lone wolves or will you sail in company?

In case you just want to play in the company of random users, simply start the game. In this way, you will be joined together with three other random players, who will become your companions. In case you are playing the PC version of Sea of Thieves, and in case you have chosen the random selection mentioned above, by pressing the "T" button you can activate a chat with the other crew members, in case you don't have a headset.

We must warn you that if you choose the lifeboat, you may still run into enemy galleons and crews. However, the lifeboat is undoubtedly faster than the galleon. Using this advantage, you could also board enemy ships, plunder them, and make your escape in no time.

Now you have all the information you need to join a crew in Sea of Thieves, or to train your own pirate crew.
