[Solved] Windows PC Stuck on Start Screen -

In this article we will see how to solve a fairly common problem for Windows users and that is when the PC freezes on startup screen (ie on the "Welcome"). The computer may also freeze at the “Wait for User Profile Service” message window when the user logs into the system. Regardless of whether the block occurs on the welcome window or on the loading of user profiles, below we will analyze the possible solutions. First we will try to define the causes and then we will point out the possible solutions.

How to Unlock PC from Startup Screen

The following are the main causes of Windows stuck on welcome screen issue:

  1. The computer may be frozen because it is trying to connect to the wireless network available.
  2. Another cause of this error is thedefective hardware. An example of faulty hardware that can cause this error is your computer's internal drive or SD card.
  3. Even devices or peripherals connected externally can interrupt the regular startup of the computer, thus causing it to freeze on the welcome screen after logging in. Such external devices include Wi-Fi adapters, keyboards, Bluetooth, mice, and so on.

Solution 1: Disable Credential Manager

The deactivation of the credential manager can be done when you log into Windows through the Safe mode. You must log in via this safe mode as you cannot log into Windows using the normal steps (if it is stuck on the boot screen). With Safe Mode, you can log into Windows using default applications and drivers. This makes it the ideal way to troubleshoot any errors that occur while using your computer. If you don't know how to do this, read our guide on how to start Windows in safe mode

In the guide linked above we point out different ways to start Windows in this mode. The best way to boot into safe mode is to use a recovery disk il installation disc original Windows 10. However, if you do not have this disk you will have to create it using for example this program. Once you have created this startup disk, you will be able to boot your PC from it and proceed with the repair function.

Alternatively you can try following these steps to repair your PC:

a) Start Windows and when it starts loading, perform a hard shutdown by pressing the power button for five seconds. Repeat this process twice. On the third attempt, Windows will naturally go into the "repair environment". Click on Advanced options in that window to proceed
