Where is Super Mario Galaxy 2?

Super Mario 3D All-Stars has just been released for the Nintendo Switch and comes with three games that range from Nintendo 64 to Nintendo Wii with Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. With this release, it brings pretty much all of the major non-portable Mario games to the Nintendo Switch in some form or another, but one game is missing from that bunch.

Super Mario Galaxy was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2007 and was a huge critical and financial success for the system. This was followed a few years later with Super Mario Galaxy 2 in 2010, which received equally critical praise for taking the formula started with the first game and building on it, even though the game really did. no story like the first. .

With Super Mario 3D All-Stars bringing together 3D Mario titles from the past, you would have thought Galaxy 2 would be a cinch to be included in the collection. However, for whatever reason, it was left out of the collection altogether.

As to why it wasn't included, we really don't know for sure and probably never quite. There have been rumors for years that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was somehow seen behind the scenes as a red-haired stepson compared to the first about how the game's development went. This is only hearsay so we really don't know for sure.

The other thought that a lot of people had some connection with the fact that the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection will be available for a limited time. After March, Nintendo said the game would no longer be on sale, which makes us think there's a good chance they'll be split up and sold separately on the eShop after that. When they are most likely split up on the eShop and sold separately, this would be a great time to also drop Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the eShop for the same price as Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Hopefully Nintendo actually has plans for Super Mario Galaxy 2, as this is a stellar game that doesn't need to be buried and forgotten for some reason. I think the most likely reason is that Nintendo didn't want to pack more than three of these games into one collection for the price of $ 60 and there was no way they could sell the collection for more than that.
