The Files app adds read support for NTFS files on iPadOS 15

Apple's upcoming iPadOS 15 will include partial support for the NTFS format, similar to what it does in macOS.

Files on iPadOS cannot move, edit, or write files in the format typically used by Windows, although users can now read files from an attached NTFS drive, as they would on a Mac.

Although capacity is limited, iPad owners who upgrade to the latest version of the operating system this fall will be able to view read-only files instead of a blank disk when NTFS-formatted media is attached to the tablet.

In addition to NTFS support, File gets a new progress indicator when moving or copying files. Tapping the pie chart opens a larger progress bar that includes detailed information on the data transferred, the data remaining, and the time remaining.
