The iPhone 6S will turn six this September. If you're still using the venerable 6S (we assume you've replaced the battery at least once), then we've got good news - it'll be able to upgrade to iOS 15 when it comes out this fall.
The first generation iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and iPhone SE, released when iOS 9 (released September 16, 2015) was Apple's last, will be among the oldest devices to receive the OS update.
For reference, on Android, Samsung has taken steps to improve the longevity of its device by offering four years of security support for some of its phones. But six years of OS updates and security support put the 6S in a whole different league.
Of course, many new features won't work with the 9S's A6 Bionic processor, such as visual text search (Google Lens style), real-time text in photos, portrait mode in FaceTime, and immersive walking directions in Maps. will be available for 6S users, as they all require a device with an A12 Bionic chip such as XS and XR or later ... But they will enjoy other new features such as notification summaries and the new focus mode, which minimizes interruptions during the day, share videos and music on FaceTime and add privacy features ...
