How to play with friends
For starters, we're going to focus on the game's local multiplayer mode, which was a staple of the original games. To access it, start from the main menu and select Multiplayer. From there, of course select Local Multiplayer, which brings up a number of options for you to choose from.
These include options like choosing simple competitive modes with friends like Score Challenge or more unique modes like HORSE. The latter in particular is not available online, so we highly recommend that you check it out when playing with friends as it's a lot of fun. Other than that, there's really not much else to local multiplayer other than connecting the second controller for the friend.
Online multiplayer is where it gets a little trickier when it comes to playing with a friend. We've already covered how to join an online session in another guide, but inviting a friend does require you to go through a few hurdles as there isn't a simple lobby-based menu-based system at this point, although it does. is supposed to happen.
To invite a friend to your party in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, start by going to the main menu. From there, press the back button or the touchpad on your respective controller to bring up a menu. Sometimes the game fails and continually says that it is trying to connect to online services which may require a restart or it just needs to be pressed until it works.
Eventually, a new menu will appear on the right side of the screen with a few tabs that you can navigate between by pressing the triggers. The one we specifically use is the second tab, called Friends. From there you should have a list of all of your friends on the respective platform that you can select to invite to your party. If a friend invited you to their party instead, you can go to the Invitations tab on another tab.
Once you're at a party with someone, you can then go to the Quick Playlist and they'll team up to fill the rest of the list with you and your friend. Hopefully we will see the possibility of playing online against a single friend in the future, but at the moment we are stuck with this method.
