Triple Damage: Overwatch's First Experimental Game Mode EXPLAINED

Overwatch players have been eagerly awaiting the addition of the Experimental Map to the game. Announced in January alongside Hero Pools, the Experimental Map will add a temporary game mode with often drastic new changes to the game's overall meta, such as changes and / or additions to gameplay, game modes, setup and balance of heroes.

The reason developer Blizzard is adding this new game mode is due to the role queue waiting times, mainly because those who choose to play as damage heroes have been waiting for a very long time. The role queue arrived in Overwatch in the summer of 2019, and teams consisted of a two-two-two format: two damage heroes, two tank heroes, and two healing heroes.

In Triple Damage mode, you should see a new breakdown of a three-one-two format: three damage heroes, one tank hero, and two healing heroes.

The Experimental Map is going to bring the conversation to players, so they can see how they like the setup. It also provides Blizzard with more information on wait times for each hero class. He can examine how long players are waiting in the queue for specific classes, and what changes he needs to make to move forward.



There will also be balance changes in this game mode for off-take, Roadhog, Zarya and D.VA, so they can better hold out as the only tank in a six-person team. .
