There are a variety of different Pokémon available in Pokémon Go, and they vary in strength and depending on how you want to use them in your roster. For those taking part in the Pokémon Go Master League, you may have encountered Metagross during your battles against other trainers. Metagross is a typical choice for coaches in this league, as are Togekiss and Dialga, and it can come across as a potential raid.
Metagross is a Steel and Psychic-type Pokémon with a max CP of 3, attack of 791, defense of 257, and 228 stamina. This is a great Pokemon to use if you are looking for a strong team member who can deal a fair amount of damage and withstand multiple attacks. It is weak for Dark, Fire, Ghost, and Ground type attacks.
Pokémon to counter Metagross

While this is a great option, Darmanitan doesn't have the best defense so you need to make sure you use it to focus your attacks on Metagross. If any type of soil, rock, or water changes to crush it, you might want to switch to another Pokémon to protect its weaknesses. You want your Darmanitan to experience fire fangs, overheating, and psychic or rock slides.

Most Metagross in the Master League will have Steel type moves and too many Psychic type moves that Gengar is weak against. Gengar should prove to be a worthy opponent against a Metagross if he knows the Lick or Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, and Mud Bomb. Much like Darmanitan, Gengar doesn't have the best defense so you need to cover up his weaknesses and use them as a strong attacker.

You want him to know how to use fire spin, superheat, and shadow ball. These are all important attacks to use against Metagross, which makes them a great choice. The problem is how many different weaknesses he has, namely Dark, Ghost, Rock, Ground, and Water type attacks.
For those who have none of the above choices, you still have plenty of options to counter and fight Metagross. Your options include Groudon, Garchomp, Charizard, Entei, Excadrill, Mewtwo, Hydreigon, Flareon, Tyranitar, and many more. If you're worried about a battle that revolves around stamina, try to find a more defensible Pokémon to fight against your opponent.
You can expect to see Metagross used against you in the Master League. The more you prepare for a fight to counter it, the better your chances of winning. You have to think about the other two Pokémon you bring to fully complete your team, and these tactics apply if you go up against Metagross in a raid.
