When does the first DLC, Isle of Armor, release for Pokémon Sword and Shield?

The first DLC announcement for Pokémon Sword and Shield happened in early 2020 during a Pokémon Direct on January 9. It's the first main Pokémon game to receive any form of DLC, and with it, you can explore new regions of Galar with all-new adventures, including additional Pokémon. The first DLC in the set, Isle of Armor, will be the first to come out and launch in the summer for Pokémon fans.

It will be available on June 17 for all players. You can choose to purchase it on the day of its release or pre-order your copy from Nintendo Store. Purchasing the expansion card allows you to purchase both DLC packs. You must purchase the DLC for the appropriate game. For example, if you have Pokémon Sword, you need to purchase the Pokémon Sword Expansion Card. If you purchase the Shield Expansion Pass, and you have Sword, the two are not compatible. The Expansion Pass costs $ 30 and includes both Isle of Armor and Crown of Tundra. Crown Tundra does not have a release date at the moment but will come later in 2020.

Isle of Armor will feature a lineup of first generation Pokémon from the Kanto region with new Galarian forms. Not only are the most common Pokémon receiving Galar forms, the three legendary birds Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres will receive an updated appearance when they arrive in the Sword and Shield collection.

There will be additional mechanics coming to the game, like Dynamax Soup. When a Pokémon drinks this meal, it will unlock the ability for it to Gigantamax if it can already Dynamax, which means a lot of Pokémon are about to receive updated character models for their giant form.

Expect more wild new adventures on the Isle of Armor on June 17th Pokémon Sword and Shield.
