Will Star Wars: Squadrons have microtransactions?

Microtransactions can be a terrifying expression for gamers to hear about a video game, especially for those who have played EA Star Wars games, such as Star Wars Battlefront II. With Star Wars: Squadrons, players are curious about how much EA will evolve with microtransactions in this game. Players will be able to unlock various customization options for their Starfighter and Pilot, as well as useful components for modifying their ships so that they can specialize in their role during the game. Fortunately, EA seemed to learn from previous mistakes and confirmed that players will not face any microtransactions.

Confirmation of this fact came from developer EA Motive Studios' creative director Ian Frazier during the EA Play live stream on June 18. The various customization options available will unlock as you progress through the game and rank your profile. We don't know if gameplay progression also includes challenges, such as taking out a certain number of starfighters or winning a set number of matches.

After the interview, viewers got a chance to see a full trailer for the game, breaking down the different Starfighters, game modes, and customization options they might have in Star Wars: Squadrons.

While the player customization options for starfighter colors, bobbleheads, and a pilot's appearance are purely cosmetic, their component options are not. You'll unlock components to modify your star hunter, like giving him more firepower, increasing his speed, or making your shields stronger. These components will also unlock during the game and will not have microtransactions.
