WoW: Classic - The Best Tank Classes In The Game

Unlike the DPS options in WoW: Classic, tank classes are slightly more limited in what they can do in the game. A handful of them are going to make the obvious best choices for the role due to their ability to take damage. While the options are limited, those willing to go the chariot route are going to need it badly. Every good party needs a reliable tank to take damage and lead it forward. Here are some of the best classes in WoW: Classic for those who want to be a tank.

The best classes to tank in WoW: Classic

Paladin – Protection

While this is not the first choice for those looking to follow the road of a tank, you are going to find it a reliable option. As a Paladin, you can wear the heaviest armor in the game, and you can take multiple hits before you start healing. The downside is that you aren't going to have too many fully defensive cooldowns. You will above all heal yourself and attract the attention of party enemies, keep them away from the weaker members. Not many people are going to want to choose you for the tank role, but if you are able to convince and prove that you have strong skills, you will still have a series of teammates who can call you in to help out in a raid.

Warrior - Protection

By far the best and most obvious of the WoW options: classic for the role of the tank. For those who choose to become a warrior, you are going to be a reliable and powerful damage dealer, or you are going to soak up the damage and stand up for your party. You can do either, but you have to go down the Protection skill tree. By choosing this, you will find yourself a valuable member of the MMO endgame team. You will always have someone who needs you, and whenever you feel like it, you are going to take a position in someone's party. The main downside to this route is that you are going to find the game incredibly boring as you reach level 60. It will take forever as well, so remember this if you choose that option.

Druid - Savage combat

A less obvious choice than the warrior performing the Protection build, but it's a bit like the paladin choosing to take down a tank. You are going to be standing for most of the fight and it will be difficult to take you down. However, you are not the obvious choice and you are going to fight, as you are only missing a handful of critical warrior-based defense abilities. You will be able to control the many little minions that run around and you will have an excellent generation of threats thanks to several of your abilities. Again, like Paladin, you're going to have a hard time keeping up your defensive skills. As long as you have a great healer watching your back, you should be good at keeping your party alive.

Shaman - Improvement

For those who are going to choose a shaman tank, you should know that very few of them agree with it. A shaman can take a little damage, but he'll have a hard time acquiring the threat of other minions. When they get the threat, they will find it difficult to stay alive, even with all of their abilities to protect them. The best healer in the world will mumble about your choice and you will find yourself making life more difficult for the whole party. However, if that's what you'd like to play, go for it. It is important to know that the class is not the first, or even the fifth choice for those looking for a tank. If your man is a tank shaman, you might want to stick with your custom party rather than looking for other people to invite you.
