5 Best PSP Emulators for Android

Sony's PSP is one of the oldest handheld game consoles of all time. It enjoyed a seven-year run with various new models being released at regular intervals. It has plenty of games and Sony has even ported some PlayStation games to the system for purchase. Now you can play PSP games on your mobile phone or tablet. Here are the best PSP emulators for Android. Please note that we recommend that you at least try to buy games before copying them. Otherwise, it's piracy.

5 Best PSP Emulators for Android

AwePSP is quite straightforward when it comes to PSP emulators. You start it up, select a game you've downloaded, and then play the game. Like most of this genre, there are compatibility and performance issues based on the game you're trying to play. On top of that, it supports the basics like saved states, hardware controller support, and a range of file extensions for games. It's not as good as PPSSPP (and some even claim it's a clone), but it's a good free option for those testing the waters.

Emulateur PSP Pro 2017

5 Best PSP Emulators for Android

PSP Emulator Pro is one of the free PSP emulators. Unlike most, this one has at least a short list of games that definitely work for the emulator. This made testing easier. Compatibility is a search, as is the performance of games. It's not unexpected. It doesn't have a lot of extra features that make it good for those who want something simple. You'll probably want to try one of the heavier beaters before trying this one, but that's always an option.

PPSSPP

PPSSPP is by far the best PSP emulator. Of all the emulators tested, PPSSPP was the easiest to use, had the best compatibility, and the best performance. We wouldn't blame you if you thought we were advertising here, but we really aren't. PPSSPP gets frequent updates, has a paid version that removes ads, and it's the one most other developers have copied. We highly recommend trying this one out first. The ad-supported free version works well if you want to test it out. The $5,99 price removes ads.

RetroArch

RetroArch is one of the most exclusive PSP emulators. It can actually imitate a ton of different game systems. RetroArch uses the Libretro system. These are basically plugins that serve as emulators. So RetroArch can do anything from SNES to PSP as long as you have the required plugin. The emulator seems to work fine, but like most there are compatibility issues here and there. There is also a learning curve as the system is rather complex. Even so, it's a good try and it's completely free and open source.

UltraPSP

5 Best PSP Emulators for Android

UltraPSP is another application that most believe to be a PPSSPP clone. However, this one seems to be very good. Compatibility is tough, like most PSP emulators. However, many reviewers claim to be able to run games on it even with PPSSPP. We are not sure to believe these claims. However, with the PSP emulation market so dark, it definitely makes the app worthwhile if you can't use it on your emulator of choice. Otherwise, the app benefits from some customization as well as network play support. It's not great, but not horrible either. At least it's free to download.
