Free Word per PC

Do you want to get Word for free for a trial period? Then I suggest you download the trial immediately Office 365, the version of Office usable on both Windows that of MacOS by subscription, at the cost of 7,00 euro / month o 10,00 euro / month or 69,00 euro / year o 99,00 euro / year (depends on the plan subscribed and the option chosen), which includes all the applications of the Microsoft home productivity suite plus 1 TB of space on OneDrive, 60 minutes of monthly Skype conversations and the extra functions in the Office mobile applications (in addition that the possibility of using the latter on devices from 10.1 ″ and above). The trial period lasts 30 days and, once finished, you can decide whether to pay or not to continue using Word and all the other applications and services of the suite.

To get Word for free by downloading Office 365, connect immediately to the appropriate section of the Microsoft website using the link I gave you a moment ago and click on the button Try free for 1 month. Then type the e-mail address of your Microsoft account and the associated password in the appropriate fields that are shown on the screen and then click on the button Log in. If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can create one right away by following the directions I provided you in my tutorial on how to create a Microsoft account.

Click, then on the button NEXT, indicate a valid payment method (don't worry, you won't be stolen money until the free trial month expires) between credit / debit card, direct debit or PayPal and enter the relevant data.

Once this is done, enter yours address by clicking on the appropriate item and filling out the form that is proposed to you, click on NEXT, Save e Subscribeto confirm your subscription to the plan and download your trial version of Office 365. If you use a Mac, you can also download Word for free from the Mac App Store.

Subsequently, if you have downloaded Office from the Microsoft site, proceed with the installation of the suite by starting the executable obtained and waiting for the download and automatic installation of all components. Then start Word, enter your Microsoft account details to activate the Office 365 trial period and that's it.

Remember to disable the automatic renewal of your Office 365 subscription by connecting to this web page. The renewal, keep this in mind, must be deactivated before the trial period expires otherwise, at the end of the same, you will be charged the cost of the service subscription . Then don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Once the installation of Office is completed and the trial version of the same has been activated, you can use Word for free by simply starting the program directly from the menu Home (on Windows) or from Launchpad (your macOS).

Word Online

Do you want to use Word for free but want to avoid downloading Office to your computer? This is also possible! All you have to do is rely on Word Online, the version of the program available on the Internet. This is a web version of the software that you can use for free without having Office (or any other particular program) installed on your computer. It works on all operating systems and all major web browsers. The only requirement to use the service is a free Microsoft account (if you don't already have one, follow the steps in the appropriate guide that I pointed out in the previous lines to find out immediately how to create it).

So connect to the Word Online home page using the link I provided you a little while ago and click on the button Sign in with a Microsoft account then click on New blank document to write a Word document online, on one of the various templates available (Event flyer, Musical program, School relationship etc.) to create a new document starting from a preset template or on buttons Open from OneDrive o Open from Dropbox to access the list of Word files saved on your OneDrive or Dropbox account

To open a document saved locally on your PC with Word Online, select the option Open from OneDrive, then click on the entry Fillet located in the left sidebar and drag the document you want to view / edit into the browser window. When the upload is complete, click on the icon of the file just uploaded to view it in Word online and start making all the necessary changes using the appropriate tools visible on the screen attached to the Word page that has opened.

To save the changes made to an online document, you do not need to click on any icon as everything is stored automatically by the service. If you want to download a document on your PC, you have to select the item Save with name from the menu Fillet Word Online and click the button Download a copy.

Free Word per smartphone e tablet

As already mentioned in the opening of the post, Word is also available in the form of app for smartphone and tablet and can be used at no cost on all devices that have dimensions equal to or less than 10.1 ″. On larger devices, however, it requires an Office 365 subscription.

To download the Word app on your smartphone or tablet, open the Play Store (if you use an Android terminal) or the App Store (if you use an iPhone or iPad), search “word” in the latter and select the app icon (the “W” on a blue background) from the search results.

Finally, proceed with the installation of the app by pressing the button Installa / Ottieni and, if you are on iOS, verifying your identity with Face ID, Touch ID or Apple ID password. Once the installation is complete, you can start Word by pressing the relative icon on the home screen and logging in with your Microsoft account.

Alternative a Word for free

If you are looking for a free Word alternative that can read and create documents in DOC / DOCX format, I can only advise you. LibreOffice. It is the best free and open source productivity suite available for Windows, MacOS e Linux (on which it is usually pre-installed). Inside it includes various applications: one for spreadsheets, one for presentations, another for creating printable content, one for databases and of course a word processing program that rarely lets you regret the Microsoft one.

To download LibreOffice on your computer, connect to the program's website using the link I gave you a moment ago and click on the button Download version xx. Then start the file LibreOffice_xx_Win_x86.msi and click in sequence on NEXT, Install, Yes e end to conclude the setup.

If you use a Mac, you can install LibreOffice by connecting to the suite's website by clicking on the button Download version xx and opening the package in .dmg format that has just been obtained and which contains the program. Then move the LibreOffice icon attached to the window that opened on the folder desktop Applications of macOS. Then, download the cittàn language pack (by pressing the button Translated user interface present on the suite website) and install it by right clicking on the icon present in the package in .dmg format of the translation, selecting the item apritwice consecutively and then following the instructions on the screen.

When installation is complete, start LibreOffice and click on the icon Writer, the word processing application included in LibreOffice, attached to the window that is shown to you. The functioning of Writer is very similar to that of the old versions of Word: at the top there is the classic toolbar with all the options to format the text (only icons and menus, without dividing them into tabs) while at the bottom there is the counter of words and characters typed.

To save a document in DOC or DOCX format, select the item Save with name from the menu Fillet and, in the window that opens, select the option Microsoft Word 2007/2010/2013 XML (.docx) give menu to tendin Save eat. When prompted for confirmation to complete the save, select the Microsoft Word format again and not the ODF format (which is the second available option).

A simple double click on their icons should be enough to open Word documents with Writer. If not, to associate DOCX / DOC files with LibreOffice on Windows, right-click on any document in these formats and select the item Property from the menu that appears. In the window that opens, click on the button Change and select LibreOffice Writer from the list of available applications.

On Mac, instead, right-click on the document of your interest, select the item Get information from the menu that is shown to you, expand the menu Open with attached to the window that opened on the desk, select LibreOffice host from the displayed list and press the button Edit all.
