Requirements for tivùsat
In order to see the channels broadcast on the tivùsat platform, you must first of all equip yourself with asatellite dish: essential device to be able to pick up the signal coming from the satellite. If you don't already have one, you can buy one at a store specialized in transmission equipment, in an electronics store or online. Below I propose some, which I think are interesting.

The dish will then be positioned on the roof or outside a balcony, since it must be able to "point" to the sky to correctly pick up the signal. In addition to the parable, a good is also needed illuminator (LNB), the apparatus that will take care of capturing the waves thickened by the parabola, and of a coaxial cable, which will take care of transmitting the signal inside the house, near the television that you intend to use for the use of the channels.
Numerous parables (including those I have just pointed out to you) also include the illuminator; as far as coaxial cable is concerned, you can buy one in television shops, electronics stores or online: I will show you some of them below.

Having solved the "problem" of the dish, you need to get a good decoding device, which will take care of decoding the tivùsat signal picked up by the satellite. Depending on your needs, you have at least two applicable solutions: integrate the smart card directly into the television, or use a satellite decoder.
- Integration with TV: if your TV has a satellite tuner (DVB-S2) and a slot for CAM+smart card (also called CI o Common Interface), you will only have to get the smart card for the tivùsat service, together with the relative CAM.
- Decoder: if your TV does not have a satellite tuner or is not compatible with smart cards, you can use the tivùsat channels by purchasing a satellite decoder with smart card reader integrated and compatibility with the channels broadcast by this platform.
Check carefully the characteristics of your TV (also reading the user manual and possibly the information available on the Internet), then choose the method that you think is best for your situation. Either way, you will still have to get yourself a smart card, the only one enabled to decode the signals transmitted by the platform, which is included with all certified devices, such as CAM and decoders, which can also be purchased directly online.

I want to clarify that access to tivùsat channels is free, i.e. no monthly subscription fee is required: the only expenses to be incurred are those relating to the smart card (and the decoder, if the TV is not compatible) and the satellite dish. Once you have finished configuring and activating the card, you will not spend any more money to access the channels through the satellite.
How to tune tivùsat channels
To activate the tivùsat smart card, it is necessary to proceed with first tuning satellite channels, as you will need to tune in later Rai 1 or on Channel 5. Before proceeding, write down the code to 12 digits on the back of the tivùsat smart card, which is essential to complete the subsequent activation procedure. Once this is done, install the smart card inside the device you have chosen (CAM for television or decoder), depending on the modalities provided by the latter.
- On compatible televisions, you will need to insert the tivùsat smart card inside the CAM module (paying attention to the direction of insertion) and then the entire module inside the slot Common Interface o CI, usually present next to the TV.
- On the decoders, instead, you will have to insert the card directly into the slot dedicated to smart cards, then setting the TV to the right video input (eg HDMI).
At this point, if you are turning on the TV or decoder for the first time, follow the instructions proposed to perform the first tuning channels, taking care to choose the option satellite as the signal source.
Alternatively, perform a new scan of the available satellite channels, following the procedure provided by the device in your possession. Unfortunately it is not possible for me to enter all the channel search methods of the various television or decoder manufacturers, but the steps to be taken are very similar for most of the devices on the market: open the menu Settings or that Configuration, brought to the sub menu Antenna o Channels, then search for entries Automatic scan, Automatic search or Channel Search. If you have done everything correctly, you will see the device of your choice start searching for channels, automatically storing those that respond positively to the search.
Final report: when tuning channels, make sure that the smart card sia correctly inserted in the designated housing.

How to activate the tivùsat smart card
Once you have finished tuning the channels, you can finally activate tivùsat on the TV of your choice, enabling the smart card to receive encrypted channels; as I mentioned earlier, before you start activating the card, you need to tune in to the channels Rai 1 o Channel 5 (taking care to keep the smart card inserted and not to turn off the decoder). Don't worry if you see the writing Encrypted signal, Not enabled or similar: it will disappear once the card activation is completed. When you are done, you can proceed with the activation in two different ways: by phone call or via the Internet.
- If you prefer to act by phone, dial the number +06 891 895 (at the cost of a local call) and follow the instructions of the voice guide to proceed with the activation of the card.
- Alternatively, you can activate the smart card using the dedicated website: connected to the page linked above, select your type of user (private o VAT number), click on the button Proceed and fill in the proposed form with the requested information.
In both cases, you will need to provide the following data: the serial number of 12 digits of the smart card noted earlier, yours name, last name, date e birth place, fiscal Code o VAT was registered (in case of business users), address, telephone number e email address.
The card should now be activated within 30 minutes from the confirmation of the data; once activated, you will see the writing disappear Encrypted signal and the channels of the tivùsat satellite platform will finally be visible on your television or decoder.
In case of dubbi or problem
If, after following the steps indicated above, you are unable to correctly receive the channels of your interest (or you see them with a lot of interference), I recommend that you first check the orientation of the antenna and, if necessary, correct it: I have explained how to do it in my tutorial on how to point the satellite dish.
