How to download YouTube videos with Android for free
Maybe not everyone knows, but it is possible download videos from youtube with android directly through theofficial app of the famous Google portal available for Android and iOS / iPadOs.
To obtain this possibility, however, it is necessary to subscribe to the service YouTube Premium, which, at no cost for a month and then for 11,99 euros / month (or 17,99 euros / month if you choose to activate a family plan that can be used by 6 people), allows you to download videos offline and keep them for 30 days, it eliminates ads, gives access to exclusive YouTube Originals content and allows you to enjoy YouTube Music, the Google home music streaming service that I told you about in detail in my tutorial on the subject.
That said, the first step to take advantage of YouTube Premium is to download the YouTue app on your smartphone or tablet (if you haven't already, of course). So, access the relevant section of the Play Store directly from your device and tap the button Install. Once the main YouTube screen is displayed, log into your Google account by tapping thelittle man located at the top right and providing the required credentials.

After completing the above steps, you can finally proceed with downloading your favorite videos. To do this, locate the video of your interest, press the button Download located under the player, select the download quality from the menu that is shown to you and press the button OK.
Then wait for the download to be started and completed, then you will see a special notification appear in the lower right part of the screen and you can access the movie by going to the section Collection of the app by selecting the item Download from the new screen displayed and tapping on the relevant one title. Facile, see?
App to download videos from YouTube with Android
As I had anticipated at the beginning of the article, you can download videos from YouTube with Android also using some third-party applications. If this interests you, below you will find those that, in my humble opinion, represent the best in the category.
However, keep in mind that the following apps are not available on the Play Store, but must be downloaded via the relevant official Internet sites, prior enabling support for unknown sources on your device. If you don't know how to enable it, do this: If you have a device with Android 8.0 or higher, you have to go to Settings> Apps and notifications, tap on the item related to browser from which you intend to download the APK package, click on the wording Install sconosciute app and carry on ON the corresponding levetta alla voce Allow from this source.
If you use a older version of Android, go to Settings> Security (Or Screen lock and security) and bring up ON the lever at the voice Unknown origin (o Unknown sources). TubeMate
The first app I recommend you to try to download YouTube videos with Android is TubeMate. It is quite complete and easy to use, at no cost and allows you to download videos on YouTube in various formats, including audio-only ones.
To download it, connected to its official website directly from your device, then tap the button Android Freeware, quindi quello Latest version and finally, su Install APK. If you are asked which app you want to download TubeMate with, choose the browser currently in use and respond to the alerts you see appear on the screen by tapping on the items OK o Download.
Once the download is complete, expand the notification center of Android (with a swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom) and tap on the name of the .apk file just got it, in order to start installing the app. In the screen that opens, then touch the items Install e apri, to complete the installation process and start TubeMate.
Once the application is started, accept its terms of use by pressing the button I agree, grant TubeMate i necessary permissions to work and close the screen related to release notes. Next, decide if you want to use the app by viewing targeted advertisements or not.
Now, all you have to do is search for the YouTube video to download on your device by pressing the button with the magnifying glass located at the top right and typing the title of the movie in the dedicated text field; then you have to start playing it and select the icon of arrow which appears at the bottom right.
Through the menu that will open at this point, choose the format and resolution of the movie to be taken and press the button again with the arrowat the bottom right to start the download.
Please note that at the first download you may be asked to download MP3 Video Converter, a free app required for TubeMate to work properly. If so, press the button Install, choose to open the link with the Play Store and his bottone award Install, to complete the installation procedure.
To follow the progress of the downloads, instead, swipe from right to left on the screen, in order to recall the main menu of the application, then touch the icon with the down arrow which is located at the top. Once the download is complete, the movies will be stored in the folder Video from your device.
YouTube Downloader
Another great application you can turn to to download YouTube videos on Android is YouTube Downloader. It is free, very intuitive and allows you to choose between various output formats, allowing you to save videos even as audio only.
You can install YouTube Downloader on your device by going to its official website and pressing the button download latest build. If you are asked which application you intend to download with, choose the browser currently in use and respond to the alerts you see appear on the screen by tapping on the items OK o Download.
When the download is complete, expand the notification menu of Android and select the name of the .apk file just obtained, so as to start installing the app. In the screen that opens, then click on the items Install e apri, to complete the installation and launch the app.
Now that you see the YouTube Downloader main screen, tap on the items Accept e OK and locate the YouTube video to download, using the search bar located at the top of the screen, in the section Research.
Once you find the video, select the relevant one miniature, choose the format where you want to download the movie and its resolution and confirm the download by selecting the wording Scarica qui.
At the end of the download, you can view and play the videos obtained by going to the tab Dashboard app or by accessing the folder Download from your device.
Note that the first time you download it, you may be asked to install the free plugin FFMPEG, which is necessary for the conversion of certain videos. To accept, tap on the items Download e OK. Your device will take care of the rest automatically.
