Moto Z2 Play review: that's why it's a great smartphone

We have been trying the new one for over three weeks Moto Z2 Play. In this video of ours review we tell you everything you need to know about the new Motorola modular flagship phone.

This Motorola branded smartphone continues the path already undertaken with Moto Z or the modularity through i Moto Mods which extend the user experience of this Moto Z2 Play. The "old" magnetic Moto Mods will therefore continue to be compatible with this model. Obviously, new ones will be launched over the next few months. The most interesting of all is the moto mod dedicated to gaming: motorbike game pad that we have already had the opportunity to try in Los Angeles during theE3 2017 (the most important fair in the world dedicated to video games).

If you haven't seen it, you can find our hands-on here.

Moto Z2 Play: technical characteristics

Moto Z2 Play boasts a display Super AMOLED da 5,5 inches with Full HD resolution and a metal body, accompanied by Gorilla Glass on the front.
Her 6 mm thick allow to accommodate the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 626, the Adreno 506 GPU e 4 GB of RAM.
The internal memory instead is from 64 GB - expandable via microSD - while the battery is from 3.000 mAh. Naturally present support for 4G LTE networks, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC, as well as the USB Type-C connector.
Given its reduced thickness (as we said 6 mm), Moto Z2 Play is not equipped with a dedicated speaker, but the audio "will come out" only from the headset capsule.

Although the processor is not one of the latest to be released on the market, the performance of this Moto Z2 Play is really excellent, it never crashes, even with dozens of apps open in the background. Really great.

Even the battery, despite being "only" 3000 mAh, is able to face a full day of intense use. A really good optimization job has been done.

Moto Z2 Play: the camera

The photographic sector instead is entrusted to a rear camera from 12 megapixel with opening f/1.7 e dual flash LED, while the front one is from 5 megapixel also equipped with double LED flash.

The photos are really good in optimal light conditions, they suffer a little in low light conditions. Here you can find some examples of shots taken with Moto Z2 Play.

I remind you that the photographic experience of Moto Z2 Play can also be extended thanks to the moto mod Hasselblad True Zoom, a mod with 10x optical zoom, a very powerful xenon flash capable of shooting even in RAW format.

Here you can find our review of Hasselbald True Zoom.

 Moto Z2 Play: fingerprint sensor

Among the novelties of this Moto Z2 Play we also find a renewed fingerprint sensor which turned out to be very lightning-fast. Now no longer square like the one proposed by its predecessor but rectangular with rounded corners.

This version of the sensor also introduces the gesture that allow you to no longer use the traditional Android menu. Doing so doing swipe left you will go back, swipe to the right you will see all open apps, having a small press you will return to the main menu while if you keep pressed for longer will lock the smartphone. Here, the gestures will work correctly only if you perform precise gestures otherwise you will find yourself arguing with Moto Z2 Play (I speak from personal experience).

Moto Z2 Play: is it worth buying?

To find an answer to this question, I suggest you look at ours Moto Z2 play video review. In any case it is really an excellent phone that guarantees very high performance, beautiful photos, autonomy superior to many other smartphones currently on the market.
