PlayStation: Yoshida has played an unreleased souls-like and it's not Elden Ring

PlayStation Indies boss Shuhei Yoshida has revealed that he has played a souls-like game that has yet to be released, and he has also made it clear that it is not Elden Ring. What could it be about?

He revealed as much via a tweet, in which Yoshida points out the last five games he's played - Horizon Forbidden West, Genshin Impact, Sifu, an unreleased puzzle action game and an unreleased souls-type game. A second tweet, also below, clarifies that it is not Elden Ring.

As for "puzzle action", it's impossible to even speculate, as it's too general a definition to understand what Yoshida is talking about. However, in the case of Souls-like, we have a couple more bases. Fans will surely expect something as incredible as Bloodborne 2, but the fact that it's"unreleased" rather than "unannounced" makes us think it 's nothing that special. Plus, it seems unlikely that the head of PlayStation Indies would suggest that he's going to play an unknown AAA through a simple tweet like this.

The most likely solution is that we're talking about Salt and Sacrifice (which we've already tested), a sequel to Salt and Sanctuary, coming May 10 on PC and exclusively on PS4/PS5 consoles. A second possibility is that it is Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, a souls-type game that will arrive on March 18, 2022: given that it is a Japanese game from Square Enix (but developed by Team Ninja), and considering the good relationship between Sony and Square Enix, it is not impossible that Yoshida has had the opportunity to test it. In any case, we find the first hypothesis more credible.

Players also point to Thymesia and Lies of P. Of course, this is all speculation, but it is a clear symbol of the public's passion for the genre and the fact that there are more and more games inspired by souls. Tell us, which unannounced souls game are you most looking forward to?
