There are three gems scattered around downtown Raccoon City.
I'll be blunt here: it's not much of a puzzle, although it might appear that way. To grab every item the memorial has to offer, all you need to do is grab the Three Squirrel Jewels in downtown Raccoon City. Their locations are not difficult to access, but you will need both the hook-hook and the chain cutters to grab two of them. Also, keep in mind that you can't really complete this once you get back to the metro station after turning power back on, so get these gems before you power up the grid.
The first case is quite easily found. Just go to the World Donuts store and hang on the left to find the safe. Once inside, the box will be directly in front of you. To grab the jewel, you must "examine" the box from your inventory - in doing so, a button prompts you to open the box and extract the jewel.
The second piece of jewelry can be grabbed immediately after grabbing the chain cutters. Just come back from the security room on the main street, next to the toy store. Opposite, you will see a chain supermarket. Go to the entrance, cut the chains and find the second box on the counter.
The third gem of Resident Evil 3 is in the toy store, but you'll need the hook to enter. You'll catch it once you reach the power station, downstairs before entering the flea hive. Warning: this gem will be easier to grab if you go back and restore the power, otherwise you will have a friend to deal with. Just go back to the main street, open the lock and find the jewelry box on the counter.
You don't need all three jewels in hand to start claiming the subway memorial rewards, so if you find yourself running out of inventory space, you can always go and insert a jewel. There are three rewards - one for each piece of jewelry:
- 1: A pomegranate
- 2: Tactical shotgun stock
- 3: hip pocket
That's all there is in the "Jewel Puzzle". You simply collect the jewelry and plug-ins. I know it's not very exciting, but the hip pouch and the stock for the shotgun are pretty handy to have in Resident Evil 3.
