Abby is a very physically fit woman who you can play for a little game early in the game until she meets Joel and Tommy. She is actually a member of the Western Liberation Front, known as the WLF. This militia occupies Seattle and parts of Washington.

Abby is actually the daughter of a doctor who was a member of the Fireflies. He was a surgeon and was going to perform an operation on Ellie to create a cure for the disease that destroyed the world. Right before the operation begins, Joel finds out that Ellie will not survive the procedure, so he does what Joel tends to do and kills the doctors, including Abby's father.
Abby spends a lot of time hunting Joel for revenge on Joel for murdering his father and sentencing everyone to save Ellie.
Is Abby killing Joel?
Oh yeah, she's killing him. She kills him shit. For fans of the series, it will be a difficult time. Abby finds Joel in Wyoming, then ambushes him with her friends after Joel and Tommy save her life. She ends up beating Joel to death with a golf club, delivering the final fatal blow in front of Ellie.
Can you play as Abby?
You play as Abby for a short time at the start of the game, and you'll end up playing like her for a substantial portion of the second half of the game.
