Can you plant turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

If you're planning on doing some Animal Crossing: New Horizons bells while dabbling in the Stalk Exchange, you might be wondering if you can plant turnips. Growing your own turnips would be a great way to earn bells, but unfortunately it can't be done. Turnips won't grow on your island, and it looks like only Daisy Mae has the knowledge to grow them.

If you want turnips, you'll have to wait until Daisy Mae arrives every Sunday to sell you some. If you are wondering why Daisy Mae runs her business with such safeguards, it's because people like us are trying to cut her off. You don't make friends in business. Sadly, Daisy Mae has us all over a barrel, and if you want turnips you have to get them from her.

You can buy your turnips in sets of 10 from Daisy Mae and then try to make a profit by selling them back to the Nooks.

How and when to sell turnips

To sell your turnips, you will need to visit Nook's Cranny. They will offer a different price for turnips each day, so be sure to check back each day to see what the price is. Some days it will be less than what you paid, some days it will be more. The trick is to sell on a day when you will make a good profit. There can be a large variation in prices.

Some days you will be offered a third of what you paid for, and sometimes you will be offered double what you get paid. The Nooks will be buying turnips every day except Sunday, so don't wait that long or you won't be able to sell them, and the turnips will rot.

To find out how much they are offering, just talk to Timmy in Nook's Cranny, then decide whether you want to sell or risk waiting to see what the price will be tomorrow.
