Is Outriders a game as a service

But if you open your eyes a little, you'll see that Outriders actually eschew the “live service” moniker, opting for an older approach instead. I know, at a time when everyone seems to be tackling Bungie's Destiny 2, it's hard to believe, but from what we've seen so far, it's safe to say that Outriders will be a full package when it launches on April 1.

Outriders is not a "Games as a Service" and will only receive expansions or DLCs if requested.

In an interview last year with our own Kyle Hanson, lead writer Joshua Rubin and lead narrative designer Syzmon Barchan confirmed that the Outriders will not be "games as a service" (and will not feature microtransactions, such as the now infamous loot boxes seen elsewhere). In other interviews and statements made on the web, the team made it clear that Outriders was built with a singular end in mind - there are no roadmaps or plans for future content. , just a simple base game for everyone to enjoy.

Now, with that out of the way, People Can Fly hasn't canceled any DLCs or expansions, but those will depend on the game's overall success and popularity. So if Outriders is successful, we might get a traditional expansion or two, but don't expect any battle passes, seasons, or even ladders to appear in Outriders in the near future. Of course, I'll cover my bets and admit that there is always the possibility of things changing, but as it stands, Outriders will be a full experience out of the box, without the usual hooks of the live service. and bullshit to fear. Just buy the game, enjoy it, and put it down when you're done.

Isn't this a new concept?
