Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac stops receiving support in October

Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac users will stop receiving updates from October and will have more and more security and reliability issues as Microsoft stops supporting them.

As of October 13, 2020, Mac users of Office 2016 will no longer officially have support for Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft 365 services. This means that enterprise versions of OneDrive, SharePoint and Exchange Online will no longer be supported. Still working.

Microsoft 's official announcement is contradictory, stating that Office 2016 will first be included in the list of supported versions, but only the Windows version, as elsewhere the company specifies: "Office 2016 for Mac is not supported".

Office 2016, like Office 2019 and which will continue to be supported, contains separate copies of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook sold as a single purchase.

With the transition to the subscription model being extended to software, it is common for the companies that create the programs to have less and less interest in keeping the old versions.

Additionally, as technologies advance in macOS and given the weight of Office, it is increasingly difficult to maintain compatibility with software that uses outdated programming technologies.

If your life depends on Office, upgrade. If you don't depend on Office, use Apple apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote; you will be happier.
