The January 2020 update also includes a handy new feature in the core game series - Evolutions of Commerce! Some Pokémon can now evolve when traded between players. If you've traded these Pokémon once before, you'll be able to evolve them instantly with no candy fees. Pokémon Gen 5 and Evolution Trade | Update 1/20
The January 2020 update for Pokémon GO is one of the biggest in a long time. This surprise update includes a load of new Pokémon Unova, and even adds a new evolution method - Evolution of trade.
New Pokémon Unova - How to Catch Them All
New Pokémon from the Unova region appear in all aspects of the game - you'll find them in eggs, in the wild, or in raids. Some Unova Pokémon will only appear in specific locations around the world!

The next Pokémon on our list can only be found by hatching eggs.
- Pokémon Egg Gen 5
- 2 km of eggs: Crabicoque, Venipatte
- 5 km of eggs: Waste, Nodulith, Carabing, Tritonde, Escargaume, Statitik
- 10 km eggs: Coupenotte, Arkéapti, Charpenti, Carapagos
A Pokémon that can spawn 10 km away from eggs can also spawn in raids.
Finally, there are a bunch of Pokémon that will only appear in specific locations around the world. You'll have to physically visit these regions to find these rare Pokémon - but there might be other ways to acquire them.
