YouTube is the most used video platform in the world, but that doesn't mean that it may not work from time to time. Regardless of whether you're using Windows, Android, or iOS, it may not work at all times. There are times when the cause may be yours or YouTube, but how can you be sure?
Sometimes the resolution is straightforward, and it will depend on what kind of problem you're having, but hopefully the following tips will allow you to watch your favorite videos.

Check if YouTube is down
This may not happen very often, but it may happen that the problem lies with YouTube's servers. For those times when you're not sure if it's you or YouTube, you can try DownDetector's service. It is a free site that lets you know if there are any problems on any website.
As you can see in the lower left part of the image, there is also a button that allows you to inform about any problems you are having. If for any reason you'd like to view any past issues YouTube has encountered, you can click the white button at the bottom right.
YouTube not working on Android: how to fix
If you are having trouble with YouTube on your Android device, there are a few methods you can try. For example, you can try some basic fixes like restarting your device, checking your internet connection, and trying to make sure your operating system is up to date.
You can do this by going to Settings and Download update manually. Your device should start looking for any new updates available.
Lp clearing the YouTube cache can also help solve the problem. To clear the app cache, go to Settings> Applications> Application manager> Storage> YouTube> Clear cache. Also, make sure all your apps are up to date and the time is correct.
To check for pending updates, open Google Play and tap the hamburger icon. Select my apps and games and the app will open on any pending updates. Lack of correct date and time on the device can also be the cause. If the time on your device is off, you can adjust it by selecting Settings> Date & Time
YouTube doesn't work on iOS
Clearing the cache for YouTube on iOS can also help, and while you're at it, you can clear Safari's cache as well. You can do this by going to Settings> Safari> Clear history and website.
As long as you are in Settings, you can also try resetting the network settings. To try this, go to Settings> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
Other tips you can try are turning off Bluetooth. Swipe down from the top right side of your iOS device and the Bluetooth option will be to the right of the WiFi one.
The YouTube app may have been updated, but not your operating system. To check if there is a pending update, go to Settings> General> Software Update.
Sometimes, fixing a problem with almost any app can be as simple as restarting your device or freeing up space on your iPad / iPhone. These fixes may seem too simple and are often overlooked, but sometimes that's all it takes.
YouTube doesn't work on Windows
If you are on your Windows computer, you can try updating Chrome. Click on the three dots in the upper right and click Help. A new menu will appear and when it does, select About Chrome. If your browser is up to date, you will see a message informing you. If not, Chrome should start automatically.
An extension can also be the culprit. Go to chrome: // extensions / and try disabling one extension at a time and testing YouTube after disabling each extension. This may take a while as you will have to turn one off and text YouTube after each, but it will be worth it if it fixes YouTube.
Clearing Cache and Cookies can also help. To delete them go to chrome: // settings / clearBrowserData. Click on the basic tab and in the Time frame drop-down menu choose Always.
